Step-by-Step: Connect Device to ZKBioTime

Follow these steps in order. Both the device and server must be on the same LAN network segment.

1

Install ZKBioTime Software

Install ZKBioTime on your server PC (we'll call it PC A). Make sure all services are running properly after installation.

Need help installing? See our Installation Guide.
2

Find the Server IP Address

On PC A (the server), find its IP address. Open cmd and type ipconfig. Note the IPv4 Address (e.g. 192.168.1.100).

3

Find the ZKBioTime Port Number

Open ZKBioTime in your browser and go to System → Communication → ADMS Settings. Note the HTTPS/HTTP Port (default is usually 8088 or 443).

4

Configure Device IP & COMM Port

On the attendance device, go to: Main Menu → COMM → Ethernet. Set the device IP address so it is on the same network segment as the server.

Important: If the server IP is 192.168.1.100, the device IP should be something like 192.168.1.201 (same subnet 192.168.1.x).
5

Ping the Device to Test Connectivity

On the server PC, open cmd and type ping 192.168.1.201 (replace with your device IP). If you get replies, the network connection is working. If not, check cables, switches, and firewall settings.

6

Configure Cloud Server Settings on the Device

On the device, go to: Main Menu → COMM → Cloud Server Setting. Enter the following:

  • Server Address: Your server IP (e.g. 192.168.1.100)
  • Server Port: The ZKBioTime port number (e.g. 8088)
  • Enable Cloud Server: ON
7

Device Connects Automatically

If all settings are correct, the device will appear automatically in ZKBioTime under Device → Device List. The device status icon should turn green (online).

It may take 1-2 minutes for the device to appear. If it doesn't, check the Cloud Server settings again or see the troubleshooting section below.
8

Verify the Device Logo & Status

Once connected, the device will display its model logo and serial number in ZKBioTime. You can now sync employees, download transactions, and manage the device remotely.

How to Add a Device Manually in ZKBioTime

If the device does not appear automatically, you can add it manually using one of these two methods.

Method 1: Search for Device

  1. Log in to ZKBioTime web interface.
  2. Go to Device → Search Device.
  3. Enter the device IP address or the IP range to scan.
  4. Click Search.
  5. Select the device from the results and click Add.
  6. The device will appear in the Device List.

Method 2: Add Device Manually

  1. Log in to ZKBioTime web interface.
  2. Go to Device → Device (or Device List).
  3. Click the + Add button.
  4. Enter the device Name, Serial Number, IP Address, and Communication Port.
  5. Select Area (location).
  6. Click Confirm / OK to save.
  7. Wait for the device status to turn Online.

Important Tips

  • Make sure the device serial number matches exactly (you can find it on the device under Main Menu → System Info).
  • The firewall on the server must allow the ZKBioTime port (e.g. 8088).
  • If using HTTPS, make sure the device firmware supports it (update firmware via ADMS Firmware page).
  • Both device and server should have the correct date and time settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

My device and server are on different network segments. What should I do?

Both must be on the same subnet (e.g. 192.168.1.x). If they are on different segments, you need to configure proper routing or place them on the same VLAN/switch.

What is the default ZKBioTime PUSH/ADMS port?

The default port is usually 8088 for HTTP. For HTTPS it can be 443. You can verify this in ZKBioTime under System → Communication → ADMS Settings.

Can I connect devices over the internet (WAN)?

Yes, but you need to configure port forwarding on your router and use a public IP or DDNS. The device Cloud Server address must point to your public IP or domain name.

The device shows "Connected" but no data is syncing.

Check the time zone on the device matches the server. Also verify that employees are properly assigned to the device in ZKBioTime. Try manually syncing from Device → Sync Data.

How many devices can ZKBioTime support?

This depends on your ZKBioTime license. The free version supports a limited number of devices. Contact us for information about your specific license.

Can StandTech configure this remotely?

Yes! We offer full remote support. We can configure ZKBioTime, add devices, and train your team via TeamViewer/AnyDesk. Contact us on WhatsApp.
